This was announced by Grant Shapps as an introduction to the UK’s Department for Transport's new strategy for air travel, which was released last week. The idea is to turnaround the industry and ensure emission-free flying by 2050.

Paris is becoming tense as every (sensible) nation negotiates how best to beat pollution and help those affected by global warming and its associated climate change One very large event in the Pacific is about to help us decide what is necessary in the most unpleasant way possible. Perhaps Paris will propel us to a united purpose--- or to ultimate pessimism?

How soon will real solar harvesting take place on a truly large scale, that will make our use of fossil fuels truly obsolete? That question still needs a really astute answer, but the time is rapidly approaching, even if this new hybrid photosynthesis fails to deliver quickly enough.
